Financial Aid

FASFA: the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid

FASFA requires information from the student and a parent (unless the student is considered independent in curtain scenarios). A complete FAFSA application will connect students with these resources:

  • Pell Grants - Essentially free money awarded to students based on family income. The funds can be used on room and board, tuition, school supplies, textbooks, fees, ect.

  • Work Study- Money you can earn through a part time job on campus: the funds to pay your wage come from the federal government.

  • Federal Student Loans- Subsidized and/or unsubsidized loads for students and/or parents. Loan amounts vary considerably based on a students year in school and level of financial need. Loans must be repaid with interest, so exercise caution when taking out student loans.

Scholarships

REMEMBER: The most important place to search for scholarships is on the college's website where you hope to attend! Often, that is where most of your scholarship money will come from. Many colleges have separate scholarship applications that you must complete to be considered. Make note of their scholarship deadlines!
