The TFSD is excited to share the start of an elementary dual immersion magnet program at Oregon Trail Elementary with our first classes beginning in the fall of 2023-2024. Families of interested kindergarten and first-grade students are encouraged to apply during the first year and the program will grow each year until we have a comprehensive k-12 dual immersion program.
Parent forums will be held on March 30 and May 11, 6 p.m. at Oregon Trail Elementary. These forums are designed to give detailed information on the program and to answer any questions parents/caregivers may have.
The initial enrollment into the program will include roughly 44 kindergartners and 44 first-grade students. These students will be selected using a lottery system that is outlined in the TFSD Parent Handbook, which is posted on the Dual Immersion section of the Twin Falls School District website at: https://www.tfsd.org/dual-immersion/.
Dual immersion is a general education program that offers a rich bi-literate experience for learners when their minds are developmentally best able to acquire a second language. We are excited to bring this new magnet program to our community.
